BUENO VISTA VILLA is a touristic place in Kinshasa within the suburb of Mongafula. This structure was established in the wake of new tourists vague since the emergence of new middle class citizens.
On May 1st, 2021, in order to celebrate Workers’ Day, Bueno Vista Villa organised an open day event that brought in many gospel artists. The event started from 2pm to 8pm. The place is famous for the atmosphere and the pastry found in here. The former is absolutely present, as the furniture and the look is absolutely old fashioned and reminding the natural era of fresh plane. The latter, the quality of the pastry, is very good, and the price is not as expensive as it might seem from the outside, and it’s still more affordable than other places in Kinshasa. The ground floor is intended for the coffee bar, where eating Congolese and foreign menu, and all the like, both salty and sweet food. There is a stage for performance and a clear view on nature. There’s the restaurant. I would recommend this place both for the food and the retro atmosphere! The event was attended by the musician Moise Matuta and his musical group who animated to the great pleasure of the audience.
Minimalist style glass building with green grass plot wherever you look, it’s refreshing and comfortable. Here, not only grow beautiful flowers for tourists to watch only but also full of interesting activities Allowing them to have fun and close access to nature. Cool and comfortable weather most of the year, except in winter when you will need a coat, which will be cold but sometimes chilling. Aside from the very good weather, the area of Mongafula is ideal for cultivating good varieties of plants. Bueno Vista Villa is therefore a famous tourist attraction in terms of natural admiration, class attendance by people that love nature, security, respect, discretion and enjoyment.
Until recently, it is a popular tourist destination that has been plagued by so-called “overtourism” such as heavy congestion of public transportation due to the rapid increase in tourists visiting Kinshasa and problems of garbage and noise. It turned around and I was in a difficult situation. Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, movement is restricted worldwide and tourists evaporate. This is because there is no prospect of convergence. Is there a strategy to turn this pinch into an opportunity to eliminate overtourism in the future? What should a tourist destination look like after the corona? We asked Didier Nsiala the coordinator of the event in absence of the owner of the touristic place, Mr Jean Paul Tshiendela who was in the city of Lubumbashi at the time of the event.
In other places around Kinshasa, the hotels and touristic places were rattling and I could hardly see any foreigners, but there were quite a few young Congolese people. Students and businessmen who couldn’t go abroad on their trip probably came asking, “I can’t help but go to a touristic place.” Bars around the city were also fairly crowded, probably because I wanted to feel like class and smart. However, the gift of the performance of Moise Matuta and his orchestra was an event of compassion for his absence.
Not everything was pitch black, and there were some regional differences. However, the state of emergency is likely to change drastically with the announcement of the state of emergency by the government.
In this corona crisis, Congolese people do not travel and tourists do not come from overseas. There is no demand for school trips or business trips. Moreover, there is no way to know when it will converge. It’s an unprecedented crisis. It was terrible at the time of lockdown, but it does not mean that we cannot travel all over the world. In many cities in the United States and Europe, it is completely locked down. Transportation has been reduced and all facilities are closed. Infection has spread not only in Europe and the United States, but also in Asian countries, and in Central and South America including here in Africa. On the other hand, overseas, there is a lot of national support such as guaranteeing employment and wages, so it may not be as good as it looks in terms of the degree of predicament of people involved in the tourism industry. In Congo, there are many places such as the inn and the tour bus industry that can be destroyed tomorrow. The impact on individuals engaged in the tourism industry may be worse in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Congo may be crushed in some places, so recovery may be delayed. Tourists are not completely stopped in Kinshasa, but it may actually be more dangerous than overseas. That is why this place is offering a new opportunity for stressed minds to chill and relax in the midst of the pandemic and economic dire times. We offer a view of Kinshasa, quiet area of the city and mostly our clients are class as well as families, friends and groups that come for birthday parties, marriages, graduation and other events.
The excursion on May 1st was a great success with all those artists that perform. The public came satisfied with the quality of the show and the good environment we offer.
