As the recording is nearing completion in Kinshasa, Nyoka Longo is expected in South Africa where he will proceed with the mixing of “Trailer”, the next production of Zaiko Langa Langa.
It will be a three-album tracks, including two intro and Tony Dee Bokito’s song “Eka” , with the voice of Nyoka Longo who is the very identity of Zaiko Langa Langa, which goes wonderfully with those of singers Akouda and Vaugerard. Directed at the studio of the artist Zola Sabab Tempo, located in the precincts of RTNC, with the latter as a sound engineer and his assistant Doris. Nyoka Longo himself is the artistic director, assisted by Modikilo modest, Shango and Yha Gege Mangaya. This presence seemingly overwhelming as a test for the new singers being their first recording experience with Zaiko, alongside the old guard: Roucoulet, Shango, Gege Mangaya, Doudou Adoula. A guaranteed success with the dance “Mokongo ya Koba” which is currently a making terror in Kinshasa and elsewhere in the DRC. For the sake of the cause, Yha Nyoch brought his master animations in complicity with Doudou Adoula and Alain. Produced by PROZAL, the single will be distributed in Africa and Europe by the House Diego Music. While waiting for the arrival of Nyoka Longo in South Africa, the engineer Freddy Elonga “Elo” conversed with AEM.
Afriqu’Echos MAGAZINE (AEM): We just learned of the imminent arrival Nyoka Longo Jossart in South Africa, can we know the purpose of the visit of President of Zaiko Langa-Langa?
FREDDY ELONGA (ELO): Yes, Nyoka Longo will soon be in Johannesburg for a studio work. After recording done in Kinshasa (According to Nyoka Longo, in an interview with AEM, the programming, sound recordings and mixing were done at the studio Sabab Zola Tempo ndlr), He will come to Johannesburg for the final corrections and mastering the new album. He is already in possession of his South African visa. He is just delayed by certain obligations to the country, including the planned concert with Papa Wemba to celebrate their 40th anniversary of their musical career (An evening scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2011 from 21h00 at the hall of the Grand Hotel of Kinshasa ndlr.) We think he would be in Jo’burg towards February 20, 2011.
AEM: This is his second solo trip in the country after the December 2009.
ELO: It is indeed his second solo trip but during this trip, we anticipate finalizing with him, the production of Zaiko Langa Langa in Johannesburg in mid April 2011.
AEM: If the tour takes place, what is the duration and cities in South Africa where will it take place?
ELO: The tour is ten days, with two concerts in Jo’burg and probably a concert in Durban.
MEA: The group Zaiko LL does it have a large audience in RSA? On which audience can we really count on (besides the Congolese diaspora)?
ELO: The band is not so well known by the South African public but we can rely primarily on the Congolese community and the African Diaspora in general (Cameroon, Gabon, Zambia …)
AEM: Your feelings after the recent visit in RSA of Papa Wemba who is a old companion of Nyoka Longo Jossart
ELO: Papa Wemba is one of the giant of Congolese and African music. His voice is unique. He is an old friend and even a brother to Nyoka Longo despite the choice of either.
