Papa Wemba forever 5 years

Five years ago to date, the legendary Congolese musician Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba known as Papa Wemba, passed away. Like a warrior on a battlefield, it is on stage that this valiant soldier succumbed, on April 24, 2016 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

As anyone would say, artists depart but their accomplishments live on. Likewise, Papa Wemba leaves behind a great legacy that many celebrate and will celebrate, in the years to come.

This year, to celebrate this great heritage bequeathed to us by Papa Wemba, Saint Pitho Ntange and Les Champions Bar et Restaurant offer this Saturday April 24, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. Joburg time, a commemorative evening on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the passing of this gigantic monument of Congolese and also African music.

The BelleVue East area, in Johannesburg, South Africa, is gearing and is ready to make us experience a Live Concert and Sapologie spectacle themed, “PAPA WEMBA FOREVER” 5 YEARS, on 130 Muller street, at Kas Kasereka’s, the poison of Joburg.

Several musicians are on the line up to liven up this evening: Roika Star, Tresor Mabiala, Abara Nkoyi, Rovely Werrason, ABC JB, Bayilo Canto, Be Chante, Incerta, Magloire, Ardi Nzambe, Banio-Nio, Mc Makumbo, Jiji Nyembo and other distinguished guests. VIP tickets are on sale for just R100. Everyone is invited, so let’s come and celebrate together, the “Schoolmaster”, Bakaladia nkuba, Mokonzi ya ba Chégués, the Rosignol of Congolese music, the late Papa Wemba.

An extra day of activities such as braai time, friendly soccer match between 4 extraordinary teams, we list Kempton park, Rosetenville, Balfour park and Yeoville FC; also “Nzango” tournament for congolese women from all over Johannesburg, will follow on April 25 from 10:30 am, location Kensington Park and all will end beautifully with a classy concert, from 6p.m by DJ Chéri Bo and DJ Chéva, at Les Champions bar, of course.

There’s no doubt that History can never be falsified as said in Lingala, “Histoire ba changeaka yango té” dixit Papa Wemba.
