The Congolese national soccer Team (Men – Senior) known a “The Leopards” arrived in South Africa precisely in Johannesburg to prepare for the African Cup of Nations of local players (CHAN) which kicks off on the 22nd of February 2009 in Ivory Cost.
The delegation team was composed of 35 members amongst them 24 players and 11 technical staffs. The Coach of national squad Santos Mutubile declared to the media that: “The choice of South Africa as our training camp is due to weather which is similar to Ivory Cost. I do not have fears because there is strong cohesion in the national squad and a good mood.
The Leopards in preparation period have played 5 friendly matches against 3 South African teams and 1 Angolan squad. The overall is positive because the Leopards had 3 victories, respectively played against Kubusport of Angola, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates of South Africa.
The squad had a draw in the first leg and lost in the second leg against Sundowns of South Africa which played the last game with two squads; despite that the Leopards performed wonderfully. The Congolese national squad will leave South Africa for the Ivory Cost on the 20th February 2009.
Go Leopards and make our nation and country proud.
