COP 26 is over, but the problem of electrical energy is still acute in the DRC, and Kisangani was hardly immune to it. Considered a country-solution during the work in Glasgow, the forests of the DRC offer guarantees for global warming, and from another perspective, one of its main cities, Kisangani, is teeming in the dark.
The problem of the energy crisis in the city of Kisangani is a great concern among the inhabitants of the city, but also a constant and colossal concern for their activities of social and economic development feature within a natural framework of management pertaining to harmonious relations between communities and their living environment. By that a new chapter has been drafted in dealing with a new culture for environmental protection acquisition.
The construction of the Hydro_Electric Power Plant on the Tshopo River in the former Stanleyville, today Kisangani, dates from 1950; and its ageing and obsolete infrastructure offers no guarantee for electrical energy sustainability. SNL, Société Nationale d’Electricité (National Power Company in the DRC), which serves the city in need of energy, is only equipped with three machines for an installed power capacity of around 19.65 MW, while the real needs in electricity amounts to 45 MW today. The deficit of about 27 MW is colossal.
Ad interim Governor of the Province Orientale, Mr Maurice ABIBU SAKAPELA, is he not right to direct his calls for assistance for the attention of His Excellency Mr President of the Republic Félix Antoine TSHILOMBO to solve this major problem which handicaps the social and economic development of this crouching giant? Province Orientale is the DRC third economic pool.
Such an envisaged perspective to see through the power crisis can only be attainable, viable and prosperous with the integration of a global and diversified vision stemming from the Concept of Global Warming, let alone the consideration of the Environment protection dimension, as advocated during COP26 summit in Glasgow, held from October 31, 2021 to November 12, 2020: The promotion of non-polluting and renewable Energy Sources such as Wind, Solar, Hydro-Electricity, and more shall play a pivotal role in the provision of electricity to businesses and households.
The solution to the Kisangani energy crisis shall inherently result from assessing real need for mass education in protecting humanitarian cause for the ecosystems that drive the life and survival of the planet. In this context, it ought to be indicated that Alok SHARMA, FEDERICA FRICANO and KISHAN KUMARSINGH can largely contribute to solving the problem wreaking havoc within Kisangani energy crisis, but it is dependable on their willingness to apply their mind to it.
