Disappointed by the Christians of the city of Brussels, Nana Lukezo just decided to turn the page of Christian music. The singer is not with the aim of awakening churches accused of hypocrisy and to turn in on themselves in not showing their love and their compassion for those suffering as the people of North Kivu. On 16 May, the Congolese singer gave a concert to benefit Doctors Without Borders, in a room of 600 seats, to 200 people depending on the singer, barely fifty according to other sources. NANA LUKEZO (NL): I’m disappointed, really disappointed: for a room that can hold 600 people, we did not have 200 people, it grieves me. What do you want, we do not have enough self-esteem, much less solidarity and yet is of Congolese who need our support. <\/p>\n
AEM: Who is to blame for this weak? <\/p>\n
NL: I would not call them guilty, because in speaking of fault, a fault or guilty, but I talk more than lack of charity on the part of the Congolese vis-\u00e0-vis their brothers and sisters. AEM: You feel bitter towards Christians Congolese? <\/p>\n
NL: No, I’m not bitter, everyone does what he wants. But in terms of what is happening elsewhere, the Congolese is indifferent to the situation in his country. Where are these groups that claim to speak on behalf of the Congolese who are attacked? That is to say that there should be no concerts because the country is attacked, but when there are activities in relation to populations in distress, we do not see them. I see how other people perpetuate the memory, we see how Rwandans commemorate each year, what they call “the genocide of the Tutsi ‘… We hear about the genocide of the Armenian people, commemorations roundups of Jews during the Second World War, these are the people who get up to recognize these disasters. Meanwhile, we never hear of crimes against humanity in relation to the slave trade, but this is a crime against humanity. This is not to make the perpetrators of justice, but victims of the claim. In Congo, there were 5,000,000 deaths, nobody talks about, this is not normal! That is what I’m bitter. As for churches, I made a decision fraught with consequence: I can sing more in church or even in my own church, I will not get into this fight of Don Quixote “SOS KIVU. We need to recognize the ethnic cleansing that is committed with impunity in the region of the DRC. Where are the Congolese intellectuals? <\/p>\n

The church has four walls to pray, but not enough heart to go beyond these walls. I want to go beyond these walls with the Word of God. The church is primarily the heart. AEM: So we do see more moderate campaigns, conferences, seminars … you are not afraid of being boycotted by the churches? <\/p>\n
NL: No, we’ve made a lot but people do not change, it does not contribute to the spiritual growth of Christians. Boycotted, I am already, I do not see how this will change, you know us, this will give me time to look after my family. The number of festivals, seminars, conferences, campaigns each year that I … I will be available for something else, so I could explore new horizons. AEM: What about the commitments made before May 16? <\/p>\n
NL: Do not worry, we will cancel all activities in Brussels and we will accept other commitments, I am sorry for that, but it is my decision. This will allow me to take back from the Christian music and my investment in this music at Brussels. For the rest, I will see. I can not stop the music like that, I will embark on other projects financially attractive, not necessarily Christians. <\/p>\n
AEM: An example of such projects? <\/p>\n
NL: There is one thing we take to heart, my husband and me is “Let all those who breathe praise the Lord” a project I will involve my colleagues in the music of Congolese and other varieties to rent the LORD, that we must stop this hypocrisy music “world” music and “Christian”. There is no such difference in the Bible, I think I’ll rather do that, also respond positively to invitations to many music concerts varieties that I receive.
