AS Vita Club has been in camp for week now in the North of Johannesburg. The Kinshasa-based club is en route to Swaziland where it will play Malanti Chiefs in CAF cup first leg game.
In the course of the week, the “Bana Mbongo” as Vita Club is known in DR Congo played two friendlies with two Johannesburg-based clubs, Jomo Cosmos and Orlando Pirates. The Congolese club won 2-1 to Sono’s team and drew (0-0) against the Sea Robbers.
If the results are anything to go by, the Irish head coach of Vita Club, Chris O’Loughlin, is happy as his team is looking good in shape: “We’re in the building process”. He’s trying to build a competitive team for CAF competition. The Kinshasa local league didn’t help that much in that way. South African camp, believes Chris, can fill the gap.
Good luck to them.
